On the First Thursday of each month and select Saturdays from May 2007–November 2007, DESTINATION WORLD will transform Downtown Lowell into a distant land by featuring movies, art, dance, music, creative workshops, special dining experiences, and family fun!
Start your adventure at the National Park Visitor Center (246 Market Street). Create your itinerary for the evening. Select a movie, choose a restaurant, learn a new dance step, sing a new song... the adventure is yours to choose!

This kick-off festival will be a feast for the eyes with smokestack illuminations, fire throwers, magic and a lively mix of dance, song and performance. - June 9, 7-11pm: Youth Arts & Carnival of Creativity
Art and science come together in this magical festival along Lucy Larcom Park. Explore new public art exhibits, interactive games, green chemistry booths, live theatre and poetry, storytelling and more. Guaranteed to entertain people of all ages. -
July 14, all day: On the Road in the World
A international celebration of Beat writer Jack Kerouac in the writer's home town: films screened in local cafes; readings of On the Road in Italian, French, Greek and Spanish; walking tours of Kerouac's Lowell. Enter the world of visual arts in downtown galleries and studios, and stay for an evening celebration of the city's cultural diversity through music, dance and the arts. Captivating people of all ages and backgrounds, this lively outdoor celebration brings the Merrimack Valley community together to enjoy the talents of performers and artists. - November 3, 8 am-12:30 pm: Merrimack Valley Cultural Economic Development Forum
Join a forum on our burgeoning creative economy with city and cultural leaders from Lawrence, Haverhill, Amesbury. Discuss the strategies and themes surrounding cultural economic development and the cultural industry in the morning, and celebrate the region's diverse artists and performers in the afternoon!
