This documentary is a hopeful story of the changing face of education in America. As schools grow more ethnically diverse across the country, White Center Heights Elementary School in Seattle (WA) offers a positive approach to the daily cultural challenges. Here differences are embraced and conflict resolved. School’s teachers tackle issues of poverty, language barriers and children that experienced the trauma of war and loss. The principal Greta Salmi emerges as the instrumental force behind the school dynamic atmosphere. She demonstrates how to lead our students with empathy and intelligence in a complex new world. The movie is an inspiration and an example for the kinds of opportunities, which exist for developing successful, diverse communities in the 21st century.
