On The Road in Lowell presents…

Motorcycles & Dharma Bums

A night about Jack Kerouac

Thursday August 2, 2007 6 - 10 pm

As part of our Beat Generation Film Series we will present:

The Motorcycle Diaries (2004), Walter Salles dir.

6pm

Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center

Adapted from Ernesto “Che” Guevara’s journals, “The Motorcycle Diaries” follows two friends on the road trip of a lifetime, a motorcycle journey across Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela in 1952, looking for fun and finding themselves along the way.

And then…

Dharma Bum’s On the Road Kerouac Conversation at Bob Paré Photography

An evening of free form discussion, wine, cheese and music from the novels

8:00PM- 10:00PM

Bob Paré Photography

177 Market Street, Lowell MA 01852

Come join us in this informal gathering and conversation around On The Road and The Dharma Bums over wine and cheese at local photography studio with Bob Paré.

Kerouac fans, aficionados and those with a curious interest will light some candles, “Put on the red bandanna dim bulb” as Kerouac did in the shack in California, play music mentioned in the novels and discuss their impressions, interpretations and observations.

No formal readings or official speakers, just scholars and amateurs all on a level field. We will reflect the type of discussions Kerouac had with his friends in the novels in the style of a jazz jam session with just a loose outline.
